After treating metals with acids, it is necessary to wash the surface until it is neutral. Otherwise, corrosion will occur in ferritic steel and discolouration in copper alloys. The neutrality of the surface can be checked with the help of the indicator paper. The water that runs off must have the same pH value as the tap water used.
